Who we are: The genesis of EQUIPULSER ®

We are passionate about Nature and animals, and these passions led usto create EQUIPULSER®, a professional muscle massager designed specifically for the well-being, health and care of horses and other equids.

The roots of the system go back to experiences shared by riders like equestrians, veterinarians, physiotherapists and massage therapists. As we listened to their stories, we realized the importance of having effective tools for recovery, relaxation and muscle treatment in horses, before and after engaging in intense physical activity.

The Specificity of Muscle Massage in Horses

Veterinarians, physiotherapists and massage therapists all agree on one basic point: muscle massage on horses requires great strength and endurance on the part of the practitioner. It is also not recommended to use tools designed for human use.

The muscle mass of a horse is approximately 40-50% of its total body mass, whereas in humans this percentage is much lower. Therefore, treating and moving a horse's muscles requires special attention and strength.

A significant example is the gluteal muscle: in horses, this muscle can weigh between 10 and 15 kg, depending on the breed, age and physical condition of the animal. By comparison, the human gluteal muscle, although the largest in the body, weighs just over 2.5 kg. In other words, a horse's gluteal muscle is 4 to 6 times heavier than a human's.

Just as it would be unthinkable to use an adult toothbrush, let alone a child's toothbrush, to clean a horse's teeth, it is equally unthinkable to use any other human tool to treat a horse's body and muscles. The proportions are completely different.
